Because June and this week end on the same day, I’m going to go ahead and combine the weekly and monthly reports.  We overspent by a little over $1,000 HOWEVER, almost $700 of that overspending is because we spent upfront on some expenses for the mother in law, who is going to pay us back.  So next month we’ll have an extra $700 to apply to our income.  The end result is that we’re looking at going into next month with no reserve, and about $120 overspent.

Because we were house-sitting for the mother in law, who lives about 45 minutes from our house, and up to an hour from the spouse’s work, we were burning a lot more gas.  I had a bunch of networking events in the downtown area (again, 45 minutes from mother in law’s house) so we were both doing way more driving than we expected.

The spouse had to get new stuff for work, and we had to buy pet food for the mother in law.  The other expenses for the mother in law I just threw into gifts, which is why it’s so high.  On the plus side, I know she’ll pay us back, and we have a few things of hers that she was getting rid of that we’re going to try to sell and we MIGHT get some more funds out of that.

If we take out the roughly $700 in mother in law expenses, we are going into next month with a surplus, so as awful as this month was, I think we can call it a win.  We didn’t overspend in restaurants, and only barely in my own spending.  We still have savings in our different categories, so I feel like we’re still doing ok.
