Weekly Budget Report

To continue the theme from last week, we are now officially over budget for the month.  Currently it’s just under $60 of overspending, but there will be more in the next few days.  We’ve been hitting up some breweries, and didn’t really plan very well for that.

Fuel was way higher than we even anticipated.  We did put more in this month to try to make up for it, but it was even more than we thought it would be.

I went out with friends and bought more clothes, which I hadn’t anticipated, and as a couple we ate out way more often, and more expensively, than we have in months.  That’s going to be something to work on next month.  I need to get my food game back on point.

Then, in household goods, the mother in law told us to go ahead and get the bassinet, mattress, and sheets that were on our registry and she would pay us back (she doesn’t like buying things online).  But since she’s already given us $2,500 in the last month it’s not like I’m going to remind her to “pay us back.”

So, when we’re planning for next month, we’ll need to pay attention to food (more groceries, less restaurants), household goods (baby stuff), and our individual spending (so we don’t go out so much).  We also have some gifts to get, and a bit of travel, but we’ve been doing well in those categories so far.
