Weekly Budget Report

Not much commentary – baby brain.  But the problem areas are:

  • Car:  My car tune-up/deferred maintenance is going to be $1,000.  That’s the full amount we had budgeted for 2 cars.  And the spouse’s car still needs to get done too, assume another $1,000 (that we don’t really have).
  • Flights: We do still have points, but what with moving an infant and having to get 2 cars up, we’re thinking of inviting family down.  One family member will drive with the spouse to the new state, so we can get both cars up, and one family member will fly with me and the baby, mostly just because of the amount of stuff we’ll have to fly up (bassinet, car seat, diaper bag, baby clothing, and my clothing/toiletries).  We discussed paying for our family’s flights, but again, we hadn’t originally budgeted for it.  It’ll probably come out of moving costs.  We do have some airmiles, but not really enough for 4 flights.
  • Medical: Things here could go really well, or not so great.  I’m pretty sure everything in the hospital was covered, I don’t think I got anything that was outside what was insured, but because hospital billing takes forever, we won’t know for probably another couple of months.  We could gamble and use some of the medical money for moving/flights.  But that might leave us in the lurch if we really do have high medical costs.
  • Housing: We have to move and have enough for deposit/first month.  I think we’ll have enough, but I wish we had more.  I’m a little worried we’ll have to dip into savings to make it.  But, at least we have savings, I guess.
